The Elephant Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, licensed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, and certified by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. As an accredited sanctuary, the habitat where the elephants live is not open to the public.
